Dentistry in Antalya: an overview

The background a UK patient needs before choosing a clinic: licensing, locations, travel and timing.

Short answer

Antalya's clinics that treat international patients are authorised by the Turkish Ministry of Health and listed on HealthTürkiye. Most are in three parts of the city, 15 to 25 minutes from the airport. UK health cards do not cover treatment in Turkey, so you pay the clinic directly and need your own travel insurance.

How clinics are licensed

In Turkey, clinics that treat patients from abroad need an international health tourism authorisation from the Ministry of Health. Authorised clinics are listed on HealthTürkiye, the Ministry's portal for international patients, with an authorisation number. GOV.UK refers British travellers to the same list, while stressing that it does not endorse any provider. Every clinic on this site is on it; its number is on its clinic file.

Dentists themselves are registered with the Turkish Dental Association (TDB) through their regional chamber. Our reviewer's TDB number is 49105.

Where the clinics are

Almost all of the clinics on this site are in three parts of the city:

AreaClinics on this siteFrom the airportWhat it is like
City centre516 km, about 20 minCentral Muratpaşa, a few kilometres from the old town (Kaleiçi). Hotels, shops and trams are close by.
Lara side813 km, about 15 minEast of the centre, between the city and the airport. Güzeloba is the neighbourhood of Lara Beach.
Konyaaltı225 km, about 25 minWest of the centre, near the long pebble beach of Konyaaltı.

The big resort areas, Belek and Kemer, are 35 to 50 minutes away by road. See clinics by area.

Getting there

Antalya Airport (AYT) is east of the city. Many clinics, ours included, include airport and clinic transfers in their packages. In free-flowing traffic the drive to the city centre is about 20 minutes.

Money and cover

  • You pay the clinic directly. Many publish prices in pounds or euros; ask which currency your plan is in.
  • GOV.UK says the GHIC and EHIC are not valid in Turkey. Buy travel insurance and check what it says about planned treatment.
  • British prescriptions are not accepted in Turkish pharmacies, according to GOV.UK. Bring enough of your own medicines.

What GOV.UK advises

The Foreign Office asks anyone considering treatment in Turkey to discuss it first with their UK doctor or dentist and to do their own research, because companies that book treatment have a financial interest. That includes us: this site is published by Precious Dental. Its clinic files link to every source so you can check them.

Common questions

Are Antalya dental clinics regulated?

Yes. Clinics that treat international patients need a health tourism authorisation from the Turkish Ministry of Health and are listed on HealthTürkiye with a number. GOV.UK points UK patients to this list.

Does my GHIC cover dental treatment in Antalya?

No. GOV.UK says the European Health Insurance Card and Global Health Insurance Card are not valid in Turkey.

Do dentists in Antalya speak English?

At clinics that treat UK patients, coordinators usually do and many dentists do. Ask who will explain your plan, and whether a translator will be present in the treatment room.

What is the best month for dental treatment in Antalya?

Spring and autumn are mild. July and August average highs of about 34°C. Winter is quiet but the wettest season.
