Reading an Antalya clinic guarantee

Antalya clinics often advertise guarantees in large print: “lifetime implants”, “10-year crowns”. These are useful, but only once you know what they cover and what they ask of you. A guarantee is a set of conditions as much as a number of years.

What is covered

Dental work has several parts, and guarantees often treat them differently.

• The implant: the screw in the bone. This is the part most often given a lifetime guarantee.
• The abutment: the connector between implant and tooth. Sometimes included with the implant, sometimes not.
• The crown or bridge: the visible tooth. Usually a shorter period, often five years.
• Veneers: often shorter again, two to five years at the clinics on this site.
• Temporary teeth: rarely guaranteed.

Common conditions

Most guarantees ask you to do certain things. Typical conditions include:

• regular check-ups, at the clinic or with a dentist at home, with evidence;
• good cleaning at home;
• following the aftercare instructions, including any night guard;
• not having the work changed by another dentist;
• telling the clinic promptly if there is a problem.

Some exclude damage from accidents, grinding, smoking or health conditions that affect healing. Read these before you book, not after something goes wrong.

Material guarantees and workmanship

Some guarantees cover the material, for example “a replacement implant if the implant fails”, but not the cost of the surgery to place it. Others cover the whole procedure. Ask: if this part fails, what exactly do you do, and what do I pay?

Using a guarantee from the UK

This is the practical question most people forget. If a crown breaks in Leeds, what happens?

1. Contact the clinic first, with photos and a description. Keep the message.
2. Ask whether a UK dentist can do a temporary fix without affecting the guarantee.
3. Agree what happens next: a repair on your next trip, or a dedicated visit.
4. Ask who pays for travel. Most guarantees cover the dental work, not flights or hotel. Some clinics contribute; ask before you book.

What to keep

• Your written guarantee, signed or on clinic paper.
• Your final treatment plan and invoice.
• The implant brand, model, size and position.
• Copies of your X-rays and 3D scan.
• Records of check-ups you have had since.

Three questions that test any guarantee

1. "If this implant fails in year three, what exactly happens?" Listen for who pays for the new implant, the surgery and the new crown, and who pays for travel.
2. "What do I have to do to keep the guarantee?" Listen for check-ups, cleaning, night guards and reporting deadlines.
3. "What is not covered?" Listen for accidents, grinding, smoking, gum disease, and work changed by another dentist.

Ask for the answers in writing, not just over WhatsApp voice messages.

Keeping evidence of check-ups

Many guarantees ask for regular check-ups. If you have them in the UK, ask your dentist for a short note or a copy of the record each time, and keep it with your guarantee. The NHS explains how often check-ups are usually recommended on its dental check-ups page; your dentist sets the interval for you.

A sample claim, step by step

Suppose a crown on an implant comes loose two years after treatment:

1. Keep the crown if it has come out, and avoid chewing on that side.
2. Message the clinic with photos, the date of treatment and your guarantee.
3. Ask whether a UK dentist can safely re-cement it as a temporary measure without affecting the guarantee.
4. Agree with the clinic whether it will be fixed on a planned visit or needs a dedicated trip.
5. Confirm in writing what the clinic will cover, and whether it contributes to travel.

Guarantees and UK consumer protection

A dispute with a clinic abroad can be much harder to resolve from the UK than one with a local practice. That makes the written terms, and your own records, more important. The Oral Health Foundation's dental tourism advice and the NHS treatment abroad checklist both encourage patients to understand what happens if something goes wrong before they book.

• Period for each part: implant, abutment, crown or bridge, veneer.
• Conditions: check-ups, cleaning, night guard, reporting.
• Exclusions: accidents, grinding, smoking, other dentists' work.
• What the clinic does: repair, replace, refund.
• Travel costs: who pays.
• Start date: from fitting of the final teeth, or from surgery.
• Terms in writing, with your name on them.

When the guarantee starts

For two-trip treatment, check whether the guarantee runs from the day the implant was placed or from the day the final teeth were fitted. The difference can be several months. Ask too whether temporary teeth worn between trips are covered at all, and what happens if one breaks while you are at home.

A guarantee is not a substitute for good planning

The best guarantee is one you never need. Careful planning with a 3D scan, honest advice about what will last, and good care at home matter more than any number of years in a brochure. Use the guarantee as a test: a clinic that explains its terms clearly and in writing is more likely to stand behind them.

Common questions

Does a lifetime implant guarantee cover the crown?

Often not. Many clinics guarantee the implant for life and the crown for a shorter period. Check each part separately.

Do I have to go back to Antalya to use the guarantee?

Usually yes, for repairs or replacements under the guarantee. Ask who pays for flights and hotel if you need to return.

Will a UK dentist's work void the guarantee?

Some guarantees exclude work altered by another dentist. Ask what is allowed, for example routine check-ups and cleaning, without affecting it.

What should I keep?

Your written guarantee, your treatment plan, the implant brand and model, X-rays and scans, and receipts.
